I’m based in Chester le Street and looking to sell a few gold and silver items for cash. I’ve got an old gold signet ring, a silver desk seal, and a small silver inkstand that turned up while clearing a relative’s study. I’ve spoken to one local buyer already but didn’t feel very confident with the valuation.
Any genuine recommendations would be appreciated.

I’d definitely skip auctions, they’re slow and the fees can be brutal. I sold a silver tobacco pipe with mounts, a gold mounted cameo, and a decorative belt clasp recently and it was much easier dealing directly once the scrap values were explained.
